Chief Executive
David joined the Company in April 1991, was appointed to the Board in September 1997 and became Chief Executive in May 2007. He has previously fulfilled a number of roles at St. James's Place including Operations Director and Managing Director. David has worked in the financial services industry since 1973 and is a director of the St. James's Place Foundation.
Chief Financial Officer
Andrew joined the Company as Financial Accountant in 1993 and following several promotions, was appointed as Finance Director in September 2004. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in 1988 and has a degree in Accounting and Economics from Southampton University. He is a member of the Investment Committee and a director of theSt. James's Place Foundation.
Managing Director
David joined the Company in 1992. He was appointed to the position of Business Development Director in December 2001 and to the Board in December 2007. David is a Director of the Association of Private Client Investment Managers and Stockbrokers. David is a graduate of City University, London and a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries. He is a member of the Investment Committee and a director of theSt. James's Place Foundation.
Ian was appointed to the Board as Sales Director in January 2003 and has worked in financial services since 1986. Ian joined the Company in December 1991 and was appointed to the Board ofSt. James's Place in 1997. He has a degree from Lancaster University and an MA from Leicester University and is also a director of the St. James's Place Foundation.
Non-executive Chairman
Charles joined the Board in January 2010 and was appointed non-executive Chairman with effect from 1 January 2012. He is also Chair of the Nomination Committee. Charles is non-executive Chairman of ICAP plc, CPP Group plc and a non-executive Director of International Personal Finance plc. He is also a non-executive Director of Caledonia Investments plc. Charles has extensive board and senior management experience and has served on the boards of United Business Media Plc (1996-2007 as a Director), Provident Financial Plc (1998-2007 as a non-executive Director) and MAI plc (1985-1996 as a Director and then Deputy CEO). Charles graduated in history and law from Trinity College, Cambridge and has an MA in Law. He qualified as a solicitor in 1972.
Vivian joined the Board on 1 July 2011 as an independent non-executive Director. He is Chairman of the Investment Committee and a member of the Remuneration and Audit Committees. He has been a non-executive Director of Henderson High Income Trust plc since November 2004, a non-executive Director of Brunner Investment Trust plc since January 2004 and a non-executive Director of Perpetual Income & Growth Investment Trust plc since May 2007. Mr Bazalgette is also currently a Trustee of the Dulwich Estate and a Governor of Dulwich College, an Adviser to the BAE Systems Plc Pension Fund, an Adviser to the Investment Committee of the Nuffield Foundation and a member of the Advisory Board of Greenwich Hospital. Vivian was the Chief Investment Officer at M&G Investment Management from 1996 to 2002, which included M&G's acquisition by Prudential. He was a Managing Director of Pension Funds at Gartmore, where he served for nearly 10 years.
Senior Independent Director
Sarah joined the Board as an independent non-executive Director in September 2004 and became Senior Independent Director in January 2012. She is Chair of the Remuneration Committee and a member of the Investment Committee. She is a non-executive Director of Development Securities plc, of Polar Capital Technology Trust plc and a non-executive director of three listed investment trusts. Sarah is also Chairman of the Association of Investment Companies, Chairman of the Stena Line (UK) pension fund trustees and of the Cancer Research UK Pension Fund investment committee. Sarah is an adviser to or member of various other investment committees including the Investment Committee of the National Heritage Memorial Fund. She has a law degree from Trinity Hall, Cambridge and an MBA from the London Business School.
Iain joined the Board on 1 October 2011 as an independent non-executive director and is Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the Risk and Nomination Committees. He was Chief Executive of the Yorkshire Building Society (the 'Society') from July 2003 until the end of 2011. Iain joined the Society in 1992 and held a number of senior management positions with the Society prior to being appointed Chief Executive. Iain also served as a member of the FSA Practitioner Panel from 2007 to 2011, becoming Chairman in 2009. Prior to joining the Society, he was a Senior Consultant in KPMG's Strategy Services Consultancy Practice, specialising in banking and finance sector consultancy projects.
Steve was appointed to the Board as a non-independent non-executive Director on 30 January 2009 to represent Lloyds Banking Group plc. He is Finance and Strategy Director of Wealth and International at Lloyds Banking Group. Steve joined HBOS in 2006 as Finance Director, Insurance & Investment and prior to that, held a number of senior finance and strategy roles in the life, general insurance and consumer finance sectors. Steve is a graduate of Imperial College, London and a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
Mike joined the Board as an independent non-executive director in May 2005. He chairs the Audit and Risk Committees and is a member of the Nomination Committee. He is Professor of Accounting at the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Director of the Centre for Analysis of Risk and Regulation. Mike is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, an Associate of the UK Chartered Institute of Taxation and a fellow of the institute of Risk Management. He lectures and writes on risk management, regulation and compliance issues.
Baroness Wheatcroft was appointed to the Board on 2 April 2012 and is a member of the Remuneration and Risk Committees. She is a member of the House of Lords and a senior financial journalist and was previously Editor-in-Chief at the Wall Street Journal, Europe. She is the former Editor of the Sunday Telegraph and was Business and City Editor of The Times between 1997 and 2006 and was also formerly a non-executive Director of Barclays Group plc and Shaftesbury plc.
Life President
Sir Mark founded the St. James's Place Group with Mike Wilson and Lord Rothschild in 1991 and was Chairman of the company until September 2004, when he resigned from the Board and was appointed President of the company. He chaired the Investment Committee until July 2011. Sir Mark originally practised as a barrister and was formerly Deputy Chairman of the Securities and Investments Board, the forerunner to the Financial Services Authority. He is Chairman of the Pension Corporation and of Synergy Insurance.
Mike has worked in the financial services industry since 1963 and founded the St. James's Place Group with Sir Mark Weinberg in 1991. He was Chief Executive until September 2004 and was Chairman of the company until December 2011, when he resigned from the Board. Mike is a director of the St. James's Place Foundation and was formerly Chairman of the Mental Health Foundation.
